A ghostly remnant of the March 11, 2011 Japanese tsunami has been located just over 100 miles from the Queen Charlotte Islands in British Columbia, Canada.
It’s a fishing boat, and although clearly rusted and in pretty bad shape, it’s been coasting along in the pacific ocean for about a year.
Officials say there are no signs anyone was on board. They were able to contact the owner and clarify that it was “moored at Hachinohe” and empty when the disaster hit.
Still, it’s a haunting reminder of the far-reaching affects of last year’s tsunami.
